Booking Airparks: Is the Cheapest Airport Parking the Best Value?

Compare Airparks parking by the full journey, transfer time, return arrangements and booking flexibility before choosing the lowest price.

A low parking quote is useful only if it covers the journey you actually need. A distant car park with a transfer can suit a relaxed departure; a nearer option may be worth paying for when you have small children, several bags or a late return. When comparing Airparks options, start with the whole trip rather than the first price in the results.

This guide explains how to compare the route to the terminal, booked times and cancellation conditions before choosing. Prices depend on your airport, dates and selected product; the worked examples below are illustrations, not live offers.

Compare the same airport journey first

Search with your actual departure airport, terminal where requested, and parking arrival and collection times. A seven-night holiday is not necessarily seven billable parking days. APH’s parking FAQ explains that many products count calendar days, although some use 24-hour periods. Entering the same timestamps makes quotes more comparable than looking for a headline weekly rate.

Write down the car park name and service type alongside each price. Two results at the same airport can involve quite different journeys. Equally, two booking sites may sell the same car park with different booking conditions. Keep the route, dates and flexibility together when deciding which is cheaper.

Read the transfer journey, not just the driving time

Airparks offers park-and-ride and meet-and-greet options. Its meet-and-greet guide describes handing the car to a driver, avoiding a car park shuttle. The precise handover location and return procedure still depend on the service you select.

For each option, answer these practical questions:

  • Park and ride: where do you check in, where does the bus leave, and which terminal does it serve? Separate the advertised bus journey from the time needed to unload, check in and wait.
  • Walkable parking: if a product promises a walk to the terminal, check the route and the terminal involved. A short distance on a map does not explain steps, crossings or whether the route is covered.
  • Meet and greet: check where the handover happens, whether you must telephone ahead, and what to do after collecting your luggage on return. Do not assume the car will be waiting the moment you land.

For a wheelchair user or someone travelling with bulky equipment, confirm the actual transfer arrangements before paying. A general description of convenience is not enough to establish whether a particular vehicle or route works for your party.

Book for reaching the car, not just landing

Your flight’s scheduled arrival is one point in the return journey. Passport control, baggage collection and the trip from the terminal to the car all come afterwards. Use the booking form’s instructions carefully: a requested flight arrival time and a requested parking collection time are different details.

Airparks warns that arriving before your booked period or leaving after it can attract additional parking charges at the car park’s normal rate. Build a realistic schedule around your own journey rather than assuming a universal grace period. If the booking asks for flight information, enter it accurately; that alone does not establish that extra parking will be free.

Turn the headline quote into a full-trip total

Compare the final booking total after removing optional extras you do not want. Check whether the selected package includes the transfer for your party and whether any entry, exit or handover charges are payable separately. For a large vehicle, confirm that its dimensions are accepted and ask about any supplement before booking.

Hypothetical example: suppose one suitable park-and-ride booking costs £68, with an estimated £8 of additional driving costs compared with a nearer alternative. Its comparable cost is £76. If the nearer option costs £82 with no equivalent extra driving cost, the difference is £6, not £14. These figures are invented to show the calculation; replace them with your own quotes and travel costs.

Then decide whether that £6 is worthwhile for the simpler journey. Time and effort matter, but keep them separate from money actually charged. There is no need to assign an artificial hourly price to your family to make a sensible choice.

Before paying, check the Airparks discount code page for any relevant listed offer. Airparks says applicable discounts are identified against eligible packages. Confirm the reduction in your chosen booking; a code listing does not mean every product qualifies.

Check what “flexible” returns to you

Airparks’ published terms distinguish between booking types. Saver cancellations provide a voucher for the same product rather than a refund; Supersaver and non-flexible bookings cannot be amended or cancelled. Other flexible products have their own voucher and cash-refund conditions. Read the product-specific deadline and refund method before treating flexibility as money back in your bank.

For example, paying a hypothetical £8 extra for flexibility may be worthwhile if your dates are uncertain. It is less useful if the permitted changes or credit arrangements do not fit your plans. Keep a copy of the conditions shown when you book.

Use APH as a relevant comparison

APH also sells airport parking, including meet-and-greet services, so it is a useful comparison for the same airport journey. Check the APH discount code page, then compare the exact car park, dates, final price and cancellation rules. APH also distinguishes flexible from non-flexible products; do not assume a lower quote buys the same freedom to change.

Once booked, save the confirmation and check the postcode, entry procedure, contact number and return instructions. Airparks’ FAQ identifies the confirmation as the place for directions and entry and exit details. Confirm whether you leave your keys, and bring a physical key or fob if required: Airparks’ terms say app-based vehicle access is not accepted where keys must be handed over. The best-value booking is the one whose full cost and practical arrangements you understand before setting off.
