About Acer UK

Acer discount codes and voucher codes are listed above. What follows covers the product families, how Acer names them, and what its codes normally exclude.

About Acer

Acer is a Taiwanese computer manufacturer and one of the larger laptop makers in the world. In the UK it sells direct as well as through the usual retailers, and the direct store is generally where the configuration options and the refurbished stock live.

The catalogue runs to laptops, desktops, monitors, Chromebooks, tablets, projectors and accessories.

Reading the range names

Acer uses sub-brands rather than numbers, and knowing them saves a lot of scrolling. Aspire is the mainstream everyday line. Swift is the thin-and-light range. Spin covers the convertible touchscreen models. Nitro and Predator are the gaming machines, with Predator sitting above Nitro. Chromebooks run ChromeOS rather than Windows and are aimed at browsing, school work and anything cloud-based.

If you are buying for study or general use, the mainstream line with more memory usually beats a gaming model at the same price, because gaming machines spend their budget on the graphics card and the cooling.

Checking the specification properly

Two numbers decide how a laptop feels in three years: memory and storage type. Sixteen gigabytes of RAM has become the sensible floor for Windows, and solid-state storage is not negotiable. A cheaper machine with less of both will feel slow long before its processor does.

Screen resolution and panel type are the other place manufacturers economise quietly, and they are worth reading on the specification tab rather than assuming.

Using an Acer discount code

Pick the machine, put the code into the promotion field at the checkout and check the total before you authorise payment. Codes appear as Acer discount codes, voucher codes and promo codes; all three mean the same thing.

Expect newly released machines to be excluded, as they are across consumer electronics. Codes here more often apply to accessories, monitors, previous-generation laptops and refurbished stock. Acer runs its own clearance and refurbished sections at prices a code will usually not improve on, so compare the two totals rather than assuming the code wins.
