The price promise has a clock on it

Delivery, installation and removal are three separate charges

On a washing machine or fridge the delivery slot is priced by how narrow you want it, installation is a separate line, and taking the old appliance away is a third. Recycling happens only alongside a delivery and on the same visit, the old unit must be disconnected and reachable, and anything gas disconnected beforehand by a qualified engineer. Add all three before comparing with a retailer that bundles them.

Trade-in is a real route, with conditions

Phones, laptops, tablets, smartwatches and consoles can be traded in, and a faulty device is often still worth something, though counterfeit units and anything beyond economic repair are refused. In store you are paid on a gift card at once; online the money comes by bank transfer after assessment, and both the quote and the posting window expire after a fortnight.

A protection plan is not the same as your legal rights

A paid care plan sits on top of the Consumer Rights Act, which already gives you a short window to reject a faulty item outright and a repair-or-replace remedy after that, against the retailer rather than the manufacturer.
