About Green Man Gaming

Green Man Gaming sells digital game keys. You buy a code, redeem it on the platform the game belongs to, and the title appears in the library you already use, which is why nothing needs downloading from the shop itself.

A key, not a download

The product is an activation code. Depending on the title it redeems on Steam, Epic, the Ubisoft launcher, the Xbox ecosystem or a publisher's own client, and the listing states which one before you buy. That matters more than it sounds: a game you own on one platform does not move to another, and friends' multiplayer libraries are platform-specific. Check the activation platform on the product page rather than assuming everything is Steam.

Authorised supply, and why it is worth checking

The company describes itself as the largest authorised independent retailer of digital keys, sourcing directly from publishers and running its own publishing and distribution arms alongside the shop. That distinction separates it from the grey market, where keys bought cheaply in other regions occasionally get revoked by the publisher after purchase, leaving the buyer with nothing. Buying through an authorised channel is what makes a low price safe rather than a gamble.

XP, wishlists and the timing question

The loyalty scheme accumulates credit on purchases that can be applied to later orders, and wishlists exist mainly so the shop can tell you when something you wanted moves. Digital game pricing is heavily seasonal, clustering around the large publisher sales, so a wishlist plus patience beats a discount code applied to a full-price new release in almost every case.

Regions, pre-orders and refunds

Some keys carry regional restrictions, which are stated on the listing and are worth reading if you are activating an account registered elsewhere. Pre-orders deliver the key on release day rather than at purchase. Refund rules on digital goods are tighter than on physical products, and in most cases the right to change your mind ends once the key has been revealed, so be sure before you click to show it.
