MOVA runs its own UK shop for robot vacuums and the wider family of cleaning machines that has grown around them, selling direct rather than through the electrical chains.

The range

Robot vacuums are the centre of it, the higher models arriving with a base station that empties the dust bin, washes the mopping pads and dries them so the machine is not left damp between cleans. Beside them sit cordless stick vacuums, wet and dry floor washers for kitchen spills, robot lawnmowers that map a garden and cut it without a boundary wire, and a small line of hair dryers. Spare brushes, filters, mop pads and batteries are sold separately, which is the part that decides whether a machine is still worth owning in three years.

Choosing between the models

The specification that matters is rarely the suction figure. What separates the models in daily use is obstacle avoidance, whether the mop pad lifts when the robot crosses onto carpet, how tall an obstacle the machine can climb, and whether the base station handles emptying and washing or only charging. A house with rugs, cables and a pet asks far more of the navigation than an open flat with hard floors throughout. Work out which of those homes is yours before paying for the top of the range.

Codes here are usually written against a named model rather than the whole site, so one that refuses to apply has probably been issued for a different machine. Consumables are the running cost worth pricing before you commit, since a cheap machine with expensive pads is not cheap.
