How an eSIM differs from a SIM card

An eSIM is a profile downloaded onto the phone rather than a piece of plastic pushed into a tray. Nothing is swapped, so your normal number stays where it is and keeps receiving calls and texts, while the travel plan handles data. That matters more than it sounds: a bank sending a verification text to your usual number will still reach you. Check compatibility before you buy

Not every handset supports eSIM.
