About Suttons

Suttons is one of the oldest seed houses in Britain, trading since 1806, and it sells the full range: vegetable and flower seed, spring and autumn bulbs, plug plants, fruit trees, bare root roses and the growing equipment that goes with them.
Suttons and Dobies are run by the same business. The two catalogues overlap heavily but the promotions are set separately, so a code from one is not accepted by the other. What they sell

Seed is the historic core and still the widest part of the range, but plants delivered as plugs or bare root now carry much of the business. Spring bulbs go on sale from late summer for autumn planting; summer bulbs and tubers sell in the new year.

Bare root plants are cheaper than potted ones, establish well and arrive dormant, looking dead. They are not. Plant them promptly and water them in. Plug plants need potting on before they go outside if frost is still likely, which catches out first-time buyers more than anything else does.
