About TJC

TJC, formerly The Jewellery Channel, sells gemstone jewellery, watches and homeware through television broadcasts and online, and a TJC discount code is applied in a retail format built around urgency. Television shopping works on limited quantities and a running clock, and the useful skill is separating the format from the product.

The comparison price is not a market price

Items here are commonly shown against a much higher reference figure, and that figure describes what the retailer considers a comparable retail value rather than what anyone is charging today. It is not evidence of a bargain. Judge a piece on whether you want it at the price being asked, and if a stone is the point, look for the carat weight, the metal and any certification rather than the saving claimed.

Gemstone names in this trade are loose

Coloured stones are often sold under trade or locality names, and the same mineral appears under several. What matters is the species, the treatment and the carat weight, all of which should be stated. Almost every coloured stone on the market is heat treated, which is normal; dyed and glass-filled stones are more fragile and need keeping away from ultrasonic cleaners, heat and household chemicals.

Instalments are credit

Where a purchase is spread over payments, that is a credit arrangement with terms, and missing one has consequences beyond the retailer. Read the agreement rather than the monthly figure, and remember that a long instalment plan on a low-value item is an expensive way to buy it.

Distance selling gives you a window

Buying from a broadcast or a website is a distance sale, so you have a statutory period to change your mind, which is the protection that matters most in a format designed to make you decide quickly. Pierced earrings are excluded on hygiene grounds and personalised pieces cannot come back. Keep the packaging and any certificate until you are sure, and photograph anything valuable for your insurance.

Using a TJC discount code

Enter the code before payment and look at what the basket becomes. Items already on a clearance or auction price will usually refuse it, as will gift vouchers, and a minimum spend is common. Postage is charged separately, so compare the delivered figure rather than the item price.
