Callaway Golf Pre-Owned is Callaway's own second-hand operation for Europe, selling used Callaway and Odyssey clubs that the company has taken in, inspected and graded itself.

The inventory runs to thousands of clubs and covers drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, iron sets, wedges and Odyssey putters, with women's and left-handed options through the range. Because the stock is previous-generation equipment rather than clearance, a driver from a couple of seasons ago sits at a fraction of what it cost new — and for most amateurs the performance gap between that and the current model is smaller than the price gap.

Understanding the condition grades

Four grades are used, and they describe cosmetics far more than they describe performance. Like New shows almost no wear, with sharp grooves and paint fill intact. Very Good has light play marks but keeps its graphics. Good has minor scratches with grooves still working. Average is honest about worn grooves and cosmetic damage. The practical advice: on a driver, where the face wears slowly, a lower grade saves real money without costing you anything you will feel. On wedges it is the reverse, because groove sharpness is what puts spin on the ball, so buy those at the top grades.

What you get with a certified club

Every club is checked by Callaway technicians, so you are not taking a stranger's word for it on an auction site, and authenticity is guaranteed — worth something in a market with a lot of counterfeit heads in it. There is a twelve-month warranty against defects and a fourteen-day trial, which means a club can be hit and sent back if it does not suit. Check the shaft flex and length on the listing as carefully as the head model, since a good club with the wrong shaft is the wrong club.
