Click&Boat is a marketplace where private owners and charter companies list boats for hire, from small day boats and RIBs up to crewed catamarans and yachts.
With a skipper or without one
Every listing is offered either bareboat, where you take the helm, or with a skipper included or added as an option. Which one is open to you depends on the boat, the engine power and the rules of the country you are hiring in, and the requirements are not the same from one coastline to the next. If you hold a recreational qualification, read the listing carefully to see whether it is the one accepted locally; if you do not, hiring with a skipper is not a fallback but often the better day, because someone who knows the water chooses the anchorage.
What the day rate does and does not cover
The advertised price is usually the boat and the hours. Fuel is commonly charged separately on consumption, and a cleaning fee, harbour and mooring dues, a skipper's fee and extras such as paddleboards or a dinghy can each be added. A security deposit is taken before you leave the berth and released after the boat comes back as it went out. Add all of it up before comparing two listings, because the cheapest headline rate is frequently not the cheapest day.
Insurance, deposits and damage
Boats listed on the platform carry insurance, and optional cover can reduce the amount you stand to lose from the deposit if something goes wrong. Read what that cover excludes, because groundings, damage to the propeller and losing the dinghy are common exclusions rather than rare ones. Photograph the boat at handover, inside and out, including the engine hours and the fuel gauge, and do the same on return. That five-minute habit settles almost every dispute before it starts.
Choosing a boat that suits the water you are on
Match the boat to the conditions rather than to the photographs. A flat calm bay and an exposed headland are different propositions in the same hull, and the forecast matters more than the specification. Check the maximum number of people the boat is licensed to carry, not how many it looks like it seats. Message the owner before booking: the speed and tone of the reply tells you a great deal about how the day will go.
