About Crown Paints

Crown is one of the oldest paint manufacturers in Britain, making interior and exterior paint at Darwen in Lancashire and selling through decorating merchants, DIY chains and its own site.
It also owns Sandtex, the masonry and exterior brand, which is why offers here sometimes name Sandtex rather than Crown. They are the same company but different product ranges, and an offer usually applies to one of them rather than both.

What they make

Emulsion for walls and ceilings in matt, silk and washable finishes, trim paints in gloss, satin and eggshell, kitchen and bathroom paints formulated for moisture, exterior masonry and wood paints under Sandtex, primers and undercoats, and tester pots.
Colour is sold both as standard ranges and as mixed-to-order shades, and the tester pot is the part of the range worth using properly.

Buying paint sensibly

Work out the area before the colour. Walls are measured in square metres and every tin states its coverage per litre, so the sum takes a minute and prevents both the second trip and the three spare tins in the shed.
Buy testers and paint them on lining paper rather than straight onto the wall, then move the paper around the room at different times of day. Colour changes completely between north-facing and south-facing light, and a shade chosen from a chart in a shop is a guess.
Finish matters as much as colour. Matt hides an uneven wall and marks easily; silk and washable finishes take cleaning but show every defect. Kitchens and bathrooms want a paint formulated for moisture rather than standard emulsion.
Two thin coats beat one thick one every time, and cheap paint applied three times costs more than good paint applied twice.

Using a Crown Paints discount code

Add the tins, apply the code before payment and check the total. These appear as Crown Paints discount codes, voucher codes and promo codes.
Offers here often take the form of free delivery over a threshold or a multi-buy on tester pots rather than a percentage off paint, since paint is heavy and delivery is the real cost. Mixed-to-order colours are made for you and are normally not returnable.
