How the shade matching works

The scan is done through a phone camera, and the result is a bespoke formula rather than the nearest match on a shelf. Three finishes are offered, natural, matte and radiant, and coverage is chosen separately, so the same tone can be built sheer or full. Beyond foundation there are pure pigment drops for adjusting a base you already own, and a sheer skin tint aimed at the glass-skin look. Everything is made to the individual reading rather than batched.

Getting a good scan

The match is only as good as the photograph, and this is where most disappointment starts. Scan on bare skin with no make-up and no filter, in daylight near a window rather than under a warm bulb, and avoid a room with a strongly coloured wall bouncing light back at you. Skin tone shifts through the year, so a match taken in February will read pale by August, and a reading refreshed after a summer is worth more than a shade adjusted by hand. The brand offers a shade guarantee, which exists precisely because a first scan can miss.

Applying a discount code

Create the shade first, since the product does not exist until the formula is generated, then open the basket and put the code into the discount field before the payment page and check the total falls. Sets that pair a foundation with a booster or a primer are already priced below the same items separately, and a code will not usually improve on one. One code per order.

What to expect from a made-to-order product

Two consequences follow from mixing to order. Delivery takes longer than pulling a boxed foundation off a shelf, so this is not a purchase for the morning of an event.
