About Direct Ferries (UK)

Direct Ferries is a ferry comparison and booking service with route and port information for different destinations. Its UK website lets travellers explore crossings offered by different operators. Start with the journey you need rather than the lowest route price, because departure ports, vehicle requirements and sailing schedules can differ even when the destination country is the same.

Comparing ferry routes and operators

Compare the ports against your wider itinerary. A crossing that looks convenient at sea can create a longer drive before or after it. Check the sailing date and the information for the actual departure rather than treating a general timetable as a confirmed booking. Allow for check in requirements and onward travel when judging which crossing best fits your schedule.

Entering the correct travel arrangement

Enter passenger numbers, ages and any vehicle details accurately. A foot passenger booking and a booking with a car may have different options, while vehicle dimensions or additional equipment can matter to the fare. If travelling with a pet, review the relevant operator and route requirements. The conditions shown for one crossing should not be transferred to another merely because both appear on the comparison service.

Reading fare conditions and inclusions

Read the selected fare's inclusions, payment and cancellation terms. Cabins, seating, meals or other extras should be confirmed on the actual option rather than assumed from an image of the ship. Distinguish the booking service's support arrangements from the operator's boarding instructions. Keep the booking reference and itinerary together so you can identify the exact sailing if you need assistance.

Checking the complete journey price

A Direct Ferries discount code should be checked for the route, operator, dates and fare you have chosen. Compare the complete passenger and vehicle total with selected extras included, keeping conditions equivalent between offers. A restricted fare and a flexible one can have different practical value. A crossing that works with your journey and has clearly understood terms gives a more useful saving than a lower headline amount for an unsuitable port or travel arrangement.
