About startriteshoes.com

Start-Rite has been making children's shoes in Britain since the nineteenth century and is built around fit rather than fashion. The shoes are made in multiple width fittings as well as lengths, which is unusual and is the reason parents come back.
The company sells online and through independent shoe shops, and its site carries a digital measuring tool that uses a phone camera to capture the length and width of both feet.

What they make

Pre-walkers and first shoes for children just standing, then toddler and junior styles, school shoes in leather, boots, sandals, wellingtons and trainers, sized from the very smallest upwards.
The ranges are separated by developmental stage rather than only by age, because a foot that has not yet walked needs a different sole from one that runs.

Getting the fit right at home

Measure both feet at the end of the day, when they are at their largest, and use the width fitting as well as the length. A shoe of the right length in the wrong width is the usual cause of rubbing, and it is the measurement high street sizing ignores entirely.
Check the fit again every couple of months for a young child. Feet grow in bursts and a child will not reliably say a shoe is tight, because feet adapt to a shoe silently before they complain about it.
Soft, flexible soles matter for children who have just started walking; the foot is still forming its arch and needs to feel the ground. A stiff, heavy shoe on a new walker does no favours. Nothing here is medical advice — a foot that turns in, a persistent limp or a child avoiding walking is a matter for a GP or podiatrist rather than a change of shoe.

Using a Start-Rite discount code

Select the size and fitting, apply the code at the checkout and confirm the total before ordering. These appear as Start-Rite discount codes, voucher codes and promo codes.
Children's footwear sells to a school calendar, and the reductions land at the end of a season rather than at the start of one. Clearance sizes are already reduced and usually cannot take a further percentage; returns policies on shoes worn outdoors are stricter than on those tried indoors.
