About Vision Linens

Vision Linens supplies bed, bath and table linen of the kind hotels buy, and sells the same stock to households who want linen built for heavy laundering rather than for a season.

What they stock

Bedding covers duvet covers, flat and fitted sheets, pillowcases, valances and protectors, with duvets, pillows, mattress toppers and blankets alongside. The bathroom side runs from face cloths through hand towels to bath sheets, with robes, slippers, bath mats and shower curtains. There is a table range too — cloths, napkins, and the glass and kitchen cloths that a working kitchen gets through. Items are sold singly and in packs, which is what makes the site usable for a spare room as well as for a guest house.

Reading the specification

Two numbers do most of the work. Thread count describes how densely the fabric is woven, and the collections are labelled by it: a low count is crisper and dries faster, a high count feels smoother and heavier. Composition matters as much: pure cotton feels better and breathes, polycotton creases less and survives more washes, which is precisely why hotels use it. For towels the number to look at is the weight in grams per square metre — a light towel dries you and itself quickly, a heavy one feels luxurious and takes longer to dry.

Buying for a business or a home

If this is for a bed and breakfast or a holiday let, buy three sets per bed rather than two, so one is on, one is in the wash and one is on the shelf; that is the arithmetic that keeps a changeover day calm. Check the sizing carefully against your mattress depth, since a fitted sheet made for a standard mattress will not sit on a deep one. For a home buyer, the trade-off is honest: this linen is heavier and plainer than a department store range, and it will outlast it.
