Bruusta sells a home kombucha system rather than bottled kombucha: a countertop brewing vessel with a tap, and flavour packs that turn water into a batch of finished drink.

How the system works

The method is deliberately simple. Water and a brew pack go into the vessel, four days on the counter does the fermenting, two days in the fridge builds the fizz, and the drink is then poured from the tap as you want it rather than opened a can at a time. One pack makes roughly a fortnight of daily servings. Starter bundles pair the vessel with a set of flavours, and refill packs are bought separately afterwards, with raspberry among the most ordered of them.

Why people brew rather than buy

Two reasons, and neither is complicated. Bought kombucha arrives in a can or a bottle every time, and the packaging is most of the waste and a fair share of the cost; brewing at home removes both. The other is sugar: fermenting at home lets the finished drink land lower in sugar than many shop-bought versions, which are sweetened back up for the shelf. Set against that, this is a live ferment and it needs a clean vessel and a bit of attention, and a batch that smells or looks wrong is one to pour away rather than push through.

Where the code is entered

Choose the bundle, open the basket, and put the code into the discount field before the payment page, then confirm the total has moved. The auto-delivery arrangement carries its own standing reduction and free postage, and a code will not usually sit on top of it, so work out the cost per batch under a subscription and under a one-off order before choosing. One code per order, and starter bundles already priced as a set rarely take a further discount.

Before committing to a subscription

The economics only work if the thing gets used. A starter bundle is the honest test of whether a six-day cycle fits your week, and it is worth running two or three batches before signing up to repeat deliveries that arrive faster than you drink. Check how the subscription is paused or cancelled at the point of joining rather than later. Anyone pregnant, immunocompromised or avoiding alcohol should know that a live ferment carries a trace of it and is not pasteurised.
