About Debenhams UK

Debenhams is a very different business from the one people remember on the high street. The department stores closed in 2021, and the name now trades online only under the ownership of the Boohoo group. If you are looking for a shop to walk into, there is not one.

What survived is the breadth. The site still covers fashion, beauty, home and garden, furniture and electricals, and it now works largely as a marketplace, with much of the range supplied by third-party sellers rather than held by Debenhams itself.

Where it is strongest

Beauty is the category Debenhams kept its reputation for, and the range still runs from mass-market names to premium counters. Home and furniture are the other areas worth checking, because the marketplace model means the selection is wider than a traditional department store could ever carry.

That structure has a practical consequence once you order more than one thing: items from different sellers are dispatched separately, so a basket of three products can arrive as three parcels on three different days.

Before you order

Check who is actually selling the item. Seller name, delivery estimate and returns terms appear on the product page and vary between sellers rather than following one blanket policy. This matters most on furniture and larger items, where return arrangements differ considerably.

It is also worth signing in before you build a basket rather than checking out as a guest, since beauty purchases can earn points through the loyalty scheme.

Using a Debenhams discount code

Assemble the order, then put the code into the promotion field and check that the amount due falls before you confirm. You will see these listed as Debenhams discount codes, voucher codes and promotional codes in different places; they all mean the same thing.

Two exclusions come up repeatedly. Marketplace items sold by third parties often sit outside sitewide codes, and premium beauty brands are the most commonly excluded category in department-store promotions. If a code will not apply, check those two first.
