ECO-WORTHY sells the components of a small off-grid electrical system — panels, batteries, charge controllers and inverters — either separately or bundled into kits.

The four parts of a system

Panels come as rigid monocrystalline modules, bifacial panels and flexible sheets for curved roofs. Behind them sit charge controllers in two flavours: simple PWM units and MPPT units, which harvest noticeably more from the same panels in poor light and are worth the difference on anything but the smallest setup. Storage is lithium iron phosphate in twelve, twenty-four and forty-eight volt configurations, including rack and wall-mounted cabinets, and inverters turn that store into mains-style output. Kits bundle matched components, which removes most of the guesswork for a first build.

Sizing it from your consumption, not your optimism

Start by listing what you want to run, the watts each item draws and the hours per day it runs. That gives watt-hours, and watt-hours are what you size the battery from. Panels are then sized to replace that daily figure in the worst month you intend to use the system, which is a very different number from the best month. Undersizing the battery is the usual mistake, and repeatedly running a bank flat shortens its life. A rough plan on paper before buying costs nothing and saves buying the wrong inverter twice.

Wiring it safely

Low voltage is not the same as low risk. Battery banks can deliver enormous current into a short circuit, so every battery needs correctly rated fusing close to its terminal, cable sized for the current and the run length, and properly made crimped connections. Lithium batteries also have a cold-charging limit and should not be charged below freezing unless the pack has internal heating. Anything that feeds a building's fixed wiring or connects to the grid is work for a qualified electrician, not a weekend project.

Warranty terms and where the hardware ends up

Panels, batteries and electronics carry different warranty lengths, and the long numbers quoted for panels are output warranties rather than a promise the unit never fails. Keep invoices and serial numbers together, because a claim years later will need both. Batteries and electronics must not go in household waste at end of life; they go to a recycling point that accepts them.
