Harkness Roses discount codes and voucher codes are listed above. Underneath is what the nursery grows, the difference between bare root and potted, and when a code is worth holding on to.

About Harkness Roses

Harkness has been breeding and growing roses for more than a hundred and forty years, which puts it among the small number of British nurseries that breed their own varieties rather than only selling other people's.

The business today trades under licence through You Garden and operates from Market Deeping near Peterborough. That mainly affects who answers the phone; the roses are the same British-bred stock the name has always stood behind.

What they grow

More than two hundred varieties, across the categories a gardener actually chooses between: bush and hybrid tea roses, floribundas, shrub roses, climbers and ramblers, patio and miniature roses for pots, and ground cover.

Scented varieties are worth searching for specifically, since fragrance varies enormously between roses that look alike, and it is the thing people most often wish they had checked first.

Bare root and potted

This is the choice that catches buyers out. Bare root roses are lifted dormant and sent without soil during the winter months. They cost less, travel better and establish well, but they exist only in season and need to go into the ground soon after they arrive.

Potted roses are available all year and can wait a little, at a higher price. If you are planning a border for next summer, ordering bare root in autumn is both the better value and the better plant, and it is also when the nursery is busiest.

Using a Harkness Roses discount code

Choose your roses, apply the code in the discount field and confirm the total has changed before you check out. The offers show up as Harkness Roses discount codes, voucher codes and promo codes, and the wording changes nothing about what happens.

Two things are worth weighing. Delivery on plants is charged by consignment rather than by item, so adding a second rose often costs less to send than the first one did, and a code on a fuller order can beat a code on a single plant. And bare root season is short, so the code and the planting window have to line up: a code expiring in July will not help a plant that ships in November.
