About Hughes
Franks good reputation and hard work ethic lead him to open his first shop in 1928, where he first built, then sold radios to the local population. Life was tough in those days and while the family lived in the rooms above the shop, Frank labored away downstairs building radios. Sadly, Frank passed away in 1947, leaving the company to his 3 children, who all took over running it. They continued on Frank’s hard work and remained true to his hard work ethic, while continuing to build the company. The company was once again passed on to the next generation and remaining in the family, with one of Frank’s grandsons now managing the company. Both Frank’s children and his grandson realized they needed to always be on the cutting edge of technology, so as these new inventions and gadgets took the public’s imagination, they made sure that the Hughes Company was always able to provide them to the thirsty public. In the past, the company offered TV rental services to make these products available to those who didn’t have the money to buy them outright, while it was quick to realize the value in offering a repair service for all these products too. As a result of the company’s adaptability, it continued to expand at a rapid rate, meaning that it had more than 30 shops and service centers scattered throughout East Anglia.
