About Kates Skates

Kates Skates is a British skate retailer selling roller skates, inline skates, skateboards and scooters along with the protective equipment that goes with them.
This is a specialist shop rather than a general sports retailer, and the range shows it: several types of skate for different disciplines rather than one shelf of them.

What they sell

Quad roller skates, inline and aggressive skates, skateboards and longboards, scooters, and the parts that wear out — wheels, bearings, bushings, laces and toe stops.
Helmets, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads are sold singly and in sets, usually sized separately from the skates.

Sizing and protecting

Skates are sized by foot length in centimetres, not by shoe size, and the sizing differs between manufacturers. Measure the foot on paper and buy to the chart on the specific skate, because a skate that is half a size large causes blisters and poor control at once.
Buy for the discipline. Rink and dance quads, outdoor quads, fitness inlines and aggressive skates have different boots, wheels and hardnesses, and a skate meant for smooth indoor floors is unpleasant on British pavements. Softer, larger wheels are for outdoors; harder, smaller wheels for a rink.
Wrist guards are the piece of protection that actually matters. Most falls land on the hands, wrist fractures are the commonest skating injury, and a helmet plus wrist guards covers the great majority of the risk. Children should have the full set.
Check bearings and wheels periodically; both are consumables and both are cheap next to a new pair of skates.

Using a Kates Skates discount code

Choose the size, apply the code at the checkout and confirm the total before ordering. These appear as Kates Skates discount codes, promo codes and voucher codes.
Offers frequently carry a minimum spend, which a skate plus protection reaches easily. Clearance sizes are single items rather than a restocked line and rarely take a further reduction.
