About Kiehl's
Kiehl's began as an apothecary in New York's East Village in 1851 and still trades on that heritage: plain packaging, ingredient lists on the front, staff who talk about formulations rather than fragrance stories. It is now part of the L'Oreal group, which is why you will find it on department store counters as well as its own shops.
