Lordhair makes non-surgical hair systems — hairpieces and wigs in human hair — in stock sizes and made to order, along with the adhesives and care products that go with them.
The base decides almost everything
A hair system is hair knotted into a base, and the base material sets the trade-off. Thin skin bases give the most convincing hairline and the flattest look, and are the least durable. Lace breathes best and is the most comfortable in heat, but is the most fragile at the edges. Monofilament sits in between for strength. Hybrids combine a skin perimeter with lace or mono on top to get some of both. There is no best option, only the one that matches how you live: a hot workplace, daily swimming or heavy sport each point in a different direction.
Ordering one that matches your own hair
A made-to-order system needs a template of your head, the density you want, the hair colour and the grey percentage, the curl or wave, and the direction the hair is parted. Two things are worth knowing. Density is the commonest mistake — people order thicker than their own hair and the result reads as a wig, whereas slightly lighter than you expect looks real. And a fully custom order takes weeks to make, so the sensible pattern is to own two systems and rotate them, because a single one leaves you with nothing while it is being serviced.
Attachment, skin and getting a haircut
Systems are held on with tape or liquid adhesive, and both need clean, dry, oil-free skin to work. Patch test a new adhesive before committing to it: reactions to the solvents and resins are not rare. Give the scalp a break between attachments, clean residue off properly rather than pulling, and never remove a bonded system by force. A new system almost always needs cutting in by a hairdresser who has done it before — the piece arrives with more hair than you need, and the cut is what makes it disappear.
Lifespan, upkeep and being clear-eyed about it
These are consumable items, not permanent ones: a thin skin base may last a couple of months in daily use and a mono base longer, and knots loosen and hair sheds over time. Budget for replacement, adhesive and servicing, not just the first purchase. Chlorine, salt water, sun and heat styling all shorten life. And be clear about what this is: a hair system covers hair loss, it does not treat it, so if you want to slow the loss itself that is a separate conversation with a doctor or pharmacist.
