About Spiral Direct UK

Spiral Direct has been printing gothic and alternative clothing for three decades, and it is unusual in the category because it designs and prints its own artwork rather than reselling other people's.

Two halves of the range

The catalogue splits cleanly. Spiral Originals are the house designs, hundreds of them, grouped into themed collections: dragons and fantasy, skulls and horror, wolves and wildlife, biker artwork, tattoo styles and the darker romantic pieces. The other half is licensed band and film merchandise, printed under official agreement. Both run across t-shirts, hoodies, zip tops, long sleeves, vests and jackets, with accessories and homewares alongside, and sizes reach well beyond the range most alternative brands stock.

Buying printed clothing that lasts

Two things decide how long a printed shirt looks new, and neither is the price. Wash it inside out at a low temperature, since the print takes the damage rather than the fabric, and keep it out of the tumble dryer, where heat is what cracks a design. Sizing on printed cotton also allows for a little shrinkage in the first wash, so the size chart is worth reading rather than guessing from another brand. A design printed across a seam or a zip will crease differently from one on a flat back panel.

Where the discount code goes

Gather the shirts you want, then use the promotional field in the basket before the payment page and let the total settle first. Licensed band merchandise is frequently excluded from site-wide codes because the licence sets the floor price, so a code that fails on a band shirt but works on an original design is restricted rather than expired. One code per order. The loyalty scheme accrues on its own and is a separate saving from a code.

Delivery and the sale cycle

Next-day delivery within Britain is offered on orders placed before the early afternoon cut-off, and a satisfaction guarantee covers exchange or refund. Discounting is deepest on the hot deals section, which is where designs being retired end up: a print that has been in the catalogue for years disappears when the artwork is rested, so a favourite is worth buying twice rather than hoping it returns. Autumn is the strongest season here, for obvious reasons.
