Steadfast Golf sells one narrow thing: aftermarket carbon-fibre shafts to replace the ones your clubs came with, sold direct rather than through a fitting studio, and a discount code is welcome on a part that costs a meaningful fraction of the club.
What an aftermarket shaft is
Every club is a head, a grip and a shaft, and the shaft is the part that flexes and stores energy through the swing. Manufacturers fit a stock shaft chosen to suit the widest range of golfers, which by definition suits nobody exactly. An aftermarket shaft lets you change weight, flex, torque and kick point independently of the head. The range covers driver, fairway, hybrid and iron shafts in graphite, marketed on low torque — how much a shaft twists under load — and light weight. Shafts are sold alone; fitting one needs a tip, an adaptor and an epoxy job.
How much difference a shaft actually makes
Be sceptical of yardage claims, including the ones on the product pages. A shaft changes how a club feels and how consistently you deliver the face, and for a golfer in the wrong flex the gain can be real and immediate. For one already in a sensible shaft it is feel and dispersion rather than a fixed number of extra yards, and no shaft repairs a swing fault. Flex is not a badge of honour either: most amateurs play a shaft that is too stiff, and too stiff costs you launch and distance. If you have never seen your own swing speed and launch numbers, a session on a launch monitor before buying is worth more than any component.
Getting the specification right
Note four things before ordering: the adaptor your club head takes, which is brand and model specific; the flex; the weight in grams, since a lighter shaft changes the whole club's balance; and the playing length you need. A shaft ordered for the wrong adaptor is a shaft you cannot fit. Installation is a workshop job — cutting to length, gluing and re-gripping — so unless you own the tools, price the work at a local club-fitter and add it to the cost before deciding.
Buying one from Britain
Despatch is from the United States, free over a stated order value, so a UK order means international carriage plus import VAT and duty charged by customs on arrival — factor both in, because they can change the comparison against a shaft bought from a British fitter who will also install it. Long thin parcels are awkward to return across the Atlantic, so confirm the specification before ordering rather than after. Put your code in at checkout and check the revised total before paying.
