About The Scotch Malt Whisky Society

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, often shortened to SMWS, combines whisky bottlings with a membership-led community. Its UK website brings together joining options, current releases, gifts, events and venues. It is intended for adult whisky enthusiasts interested in exploring different flavour profiles as well as buying a particular bottle.

A whisky society with membership at its centre

The Society’s range includes its Signature collection, Outturn releases, Heresy and the Creators Collection. These offer different routes into the catalogue, with individual bottlings described through their flavour and maturation details. Read the exact bottle information, including volume and alcohol strength, before comparing prices.

Exploring bottlings by flavour and release

Membership is central to access to parts of the range. Check which purchases and experiences require membership and what a joining package actually includes. The membership fee, a bottle purchase and a tasting event are different commitments, so it helps to understand the intended use before choosing a bundle.

Gifts, tasting packs and events

Gift membership and tasting packs provide other ways to explore the Society, while events and venues offer an in-person experience where available. For a present, establish how activation works and whether the recipient already has membership. For an event, check the location, date and ticket conditions separately from a bottle order.
