About English Heritage - Membership

English Heritage discount codes and voucher codes are listed above. What follows explains what a membership actually buys, how the gift version differs, and where an English Heritage discount code applies.

About English Heritage

English Heritage is the charity that looks after more than four hundred historic sites in England, from Stonehenge and Dover Castle to abbeys, Roman forts and country houses. Membership gives free entry to all of them for a year.
It is a charity rather than a retailer, and that shapes the offers. Discounts appear on memberships and gift memberships rather than on entry to a particular site, and they tend to cluster around gifting seasons.

What membership covers

An annual membership admits the member to every English Heritage site free of charge, usually with free entry for accompanying children, plus free or reduced parking at most properties and a members' magazine and handbook.
Joint and family options exist, and there is a separate arrangement covering properties in Scotland and Wales through partner organisations, though the terms there are not identical. Some events at the larger sites carry their own ticket price on top.

Working out whether it pays

The arithmetic is simple: compare the membership price against the gate price of the sites you would realistically visit in a year. For most households two or three visits to major properties is the break-even point, and Stonehenge alone is a large part of it.
Location matters more than enthusiasm. Membership pays for itself quickly if several properties sit within an hour's drive and slowly if the nearest is a day out. Check the map before the price. Gift memberships are dated from activation rather than from purchase in most cases, which makes them workable as a present.

Using an English Heritage discount code

Offers are applied during the membership sign-up rather than in a shopping basket, so the reduction shows on the payment step. Confirm the figure before completing. These appear as English Heritage discount codes, voucher codes and promo codes.
Reductions are usually limited to new memberships or to gift memberships, and renewals are often excluded. Direct debit and annual payment can be priced differently, so compare both before applying anything.
